Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning issues regulatory requirements in the areas of housing projects and organizational guide

Her Excellency Mrs. Amna bint Ahmed Al-Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, affirmed that Decree No. 899 of 2024 promulgates the regulatory requirements in the areas of housing projects and the directory of housing projects.

The Minister of Housing explained that the objective of the regulatory requirements is to enhance citizens' access to opportunities for extension and expansion within the housing units in order to address a number of repeated construction offences and to ensure that they are transformed into legal amendments in accordance with the regulatory requirements applicable to all housing units, vouchers and buildings under the Ministry of Housing.

The resolution regulated the requirements of housing condominium areas as well as housing areas that had not yet been defined, within a package of integrated legal clauses, in response to the joint coordination between the legislative and executive authorities, and after examining several cases received by the Ministry and citizens' proposals through the National System of Proposals and Complaints "Continue", as well as the Offices of H.E. Deputies and Municipal Councils.

Minister Al-Rumaihi stated that the issuance of the Regulatory Requirements Resolution is in line with article 20 of Decree-Law No. 13 of 1977, which promulgates the Building Regulation Act and its amendments, to complement resolution No. 93 of 2023, which promulgates the regulatory requirements for the reconstruction of various regions of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Minister al-Rumaihi added that the decision follows a review of the construction additions in Decision No. 76 of 2018 to issue regulatory requirements applicable to housing projects, which was discussed in a technical government team that includes together with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture, and the Planning and Urban Development Authority.
