The Ministry of Housing said that the number of housing units that citizens have benefited from during the past five years has reached 30,000 housing units and services, and that this number of units falls under the umbrella of the Royal Decree of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the beloved monarch of the country, may God preserve and sponsor him by building 40 thousand housing units, and the ministry indicated that this number will increase upon the completion of the order of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him, to distribute 5,000 housing units and services, which the ministry is currently distributing.
The ministry stated that it is currently working on distributing a number of housing projects under implementation, varying between ownership apartments, units and residential plots, in each of East Hidd City, the Lake Project, Salman City, and in separate areas in the Kingdom's governorates.
The Ministry stated that the projects of the new Bahrain cities that were implemented during the past years, namely the cities of Salman, Khalifa, Sharq Al-Hadd, and the suburb of Al-Ramli, in addition to the East Sitra city that work began recently, and housing complex projects that exceeded 40 projects and were implemented in various governorates of the Kingdom, have contributed In providing this number of units in a way that meets the housing needs of thousands of Bahraini families, noting that the criterion of seniority of requests is applied when distributing various cities and housing projects and in accordance with the regulations followed in this regard.
The Ministry indicated that thanks to the care received by the housing services from His Majesty the King of the country, may God protect him, and the continuous follow-up from His Royal Highness, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him, as a priority to meet the requirements of citizens, by providing the best sites with views and facades. Most of the Navy, in addition to providing the necessary budgets, whether from the state’s general budget or the Gulf development program, explaining that all of this has led to a major shift in the pace of project implementation from building hundreds of units to building thousands of them, and in record periods.
The ministry indicated that the esteemed government did not limit its vision to building housing units only, but rather sought to translate the visions of His Majesty the King, may God preserve and protect him, by providing housing units to citizens, so all new city plans and housing complex projects included educational, health and commercial facilities and places of worship, and at the city level in particular. Attention has been paid to providing waterfronts for citizens, and providing bicycle and pedestrian paths, according to the latest specifications related to infrastructure such as road networks, bridges and sanitation.
The ministry said that it continues to accelerate the completion rates of current housing projects in order to speed up delivery to the beneficiary citizens, which will apply to future housing projects, in addition to the Ministry’s keenness to diversify housing options, including financing and partnership programs with the private sector, in order to provide stability for citizens.
