Engineer Basem bin Yaqoub Al-Hamar, Minister of Housing, Chairman of the Housing Bank, valued the Cabinet’s decision regarding the delay of the monthly installments of housing services due to citizens for a period of 6 months, and stopping the collection of monthly rents from tenants and beneficiaries from the shops owned by the Housing Bank for a period of 3 months, starting from a month April, in compliance with the order of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister, and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister.
The Minister of Housing said that the decision to postpone the housing installments comes within the framework of directing His Royal Highness, the Prime Minister, the Ministerial Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs and Financial Balance, to consider delaying the collection of some government dues due to citizens, and in line with national efforts to confront the repercussions of the global spread of the Corona virus at the local level. In a manner that preserves the health and safety of citizens and residents in parallel with the continuation of the state’s programs and its work process to achieve endeavors
Sustainable development for the benefit of citizens.
Eng. Al-Hamr indicated that the decision to stop the monthly installments will include all citizens who benefit from the services of housing units and ownership apartments in addition to the purchase, construction and repair funds, noting that the Housing Bank has been directed to take all necessary measures to implement the decision to stop the housing installments starting in April.
The decision also includes stopping the collection of monthly rents for citizens who rent commercial stores owned by the Housing Bank, and which the bank is building under the guidance of the Ministry of Housing to serve housing project residents for a period of 3 months starting in April, in the context of mitigating economic impacts and supporting commercial activity at this stage.
The Minister of Housing pointed out that the decisions to postpone the housing installments and the monthly rents of the shops confirm the keenness of the rational leadership and the esteemed government to face the economic effects of the spread of the new Corona virus "Covid 19", expressing his aspirations for the end of the pandemic in the near time, and the return of life to normal.
