Her Excellency Ms. Fatima Ibrahim Al-Manai, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, participated in the ministerial meeting of Arab Ministers of Housing and Construction and the eighth Arab Housing Conference, held in Algeria from 17 to 19 December.

During the meeting, the strengthening of cooperation among Member States and the exchange of experiences and experiences on pilot projects in the field of housing and urban development was discussed in order to contribute to the improvement of housing services and the achievement of the desired goals.

The Council also examined ways of cooperating with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, coordination efforts to implement the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 and Arab cooperation with regional and international groupings in the field of housing and reconstruction.

The meeting also reviewed developments in Bahrain's hosting of the website of the Council of Arab Ministers of Housing and Reconstruction, which aims to operationalize the Council's objectives and includes the design of the database and information by Member States.

In a related context, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning participated in a national working paper at the eighth Arab Housing Conference. The plans and courses of action of the Ministry were reviewed to provide adequate housing for citizens, including the course of the housing finance programme and the course of the Government's land development rights programme in partnership with the private sector, as well as the course of completion of projects planned in housing cities.

The Kingdom of Bahrain has worked to strengthen cooperation and partnership with the private sector to provide housing services, thereby contributing to diversifying citizens' choices, increasing the quality of housing services and working to provide services as little as possible, noting that partnership with the private sector has contributed to providing suitable alternatives to housing services.

Al-Manai stated that the paths taken by the Ministry in providing housing services provided more flexibility and options by choosing the appropriate location, type and size of service commensurate with the applicant's needs and service, noting that the government land development programme and housing finance programmes contributed to diversifying choices for applicants.
