"Housing" explained that it has taken steps to ensure that beneficiaries have the right to expand the building space of their units to ensure the safety and quality of their units, by providing the beneficiaries at the time of receiving their units with several expansion models that provide several options for the beneficiaries to expand by using the model that suits their needs in a safe manner, and in the amount of Up to 30% of the area of ​​the housing unit, and also noted that it worked in coordination with the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning earlier to make amendments to the regulatory requirements for reconstruction in residential areas, including the abolition of the clause related to the construction ban during the first year of receiving housing units, in response Due to the citizens' desires in this regard, stressing that these amendments aim to give citizens the flexibility to expand the units according to their needs in a way that does not violate the development requirements.

The Ministry indicated that there are a number of violations of building modifications that included faulty engineering practices that led to cracks in the walls of units, others that caused damage to protection systems from water leaks, and others that included wrong electrical connections that may lead to an electrical short circuit that results in fires, as well as work that led This leads to blockages in the sewage drainage systems and rainwater drainage networks, which may expose the area to water accumulations as a result of the blockage of these networks.

It is worth noting that the Ministry of Housing launched an awareness campaign last month on construction requirements, in cooperation with the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, represented by Municipal Affairs, calling on recent beneficiaries of housing units to review the municipalities and issue building permits before undertaking expansion and additions to the housing unit, with the necessity Taking into account the requirements of construction requirements, in particular those related to preserving architectural facades, and adhering to the necessary setbacks and specifying heights and permitted building areas.
