Her Excellency Ms. Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, held a joint working meeting with Her Excellency Ms. Anaclodia Rossbach, Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Program (Habitat), on the sidelines of the participation of the delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the meeting of the General Assembly of UN-Habitat held at the headquarters of the United Nations Human Settlements Program in The Kenyan capital, Nairobi.
During the meeting, opportunities for cooperation and possible partnerships to promote sustainable urban development were discussed, and a number of topics related to the housing and urban planning sectors presented in the sessions of the UN-Habitat General Assembly meeting were discussed.
Her Excellency Minister Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi touched on the most prominent developments in the housing programs that the Ministry recently introduced to provide immediate services to citizens in partnership with the private sector, which are the housing financing program and the government and private land development rights program in partnership with the private sector, as well as efforts to provide projects and services in housing cities.
Minister Al Rumaihi pointed to the success of the government’s approach in adopting innovative policies that aim to provide immediate and sustainable housing services, stressing the Kingdom of Bahrain’s keenness to support international efforts aimed at achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, as the Kingdom took into account providing sustainability standards in accordance with the eleventh goal of the Sustainable Development Goals, by including them.In general plans for residential cities.
For her part, the Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Program appreciated the Kingdom’s efforts in providing housing services to citizens through its innovative work paths, and the progress made in the field of implementing the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, especially the eleventh goal, expressing her aspiration to continue cooperation between the two sides to achieve development goals, Wishing the Kingdom of Bahrain continued success and progress.
In a related context, Her Excellency the Minister of Housing and Urban Planning held, on the sidelines of the discussion sessions, a meeting with His Excellency Engineer Mohammed Al Mansouri, Director of the Sheikh Zayed Housing Program in the sisterly United Arab Emirates.
During the meeting, Minister Al Rumaihi stressed the depth of the relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates, and the cooperation and coordination witnessed in bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries in various fields.
Efforts to provide housing services to citizens and ways of cooperation in the fields of urban planning and development and housing services were also reviewed, and expertise, experiences and visits were exchanged, with the aim of strengthening plans and programs in the fields of housing, planning and urban development.A number of topics related to efforts to implement the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals were also discussed.In light of the discussions of the forum sessions.
The Minister of Housing and Physical Planning also had a meeting with Mr. Anar Guliyev, Chairman of the State Committee for Physical Planning and Architecture of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, a number of topics related to efforts to implement the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals were discussed, in light of the discussions of the forum sessions, in addition to reviewing common visions regarding the thirteenth session of the World Urban Forum, which will be hosted by the capital, Baku, during the coming year 2026.
