The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning and the Supreme Council for Women held the first meeting of the Joint Committee, in the presence of Her Excellency Mrs. Amna bint Ahmed Al-Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, Her Excellency Ms. Luwa Saleh Al-Awadi, Secretary General of the Supreme Council Council for Women.

The meeting saw an update on the implementation of the second phase project. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning has indicated that the project, when completed, will provide a total of 49 residential apartments serving category V applications, comprising divorced, widowed or abandoned women with no son or more, single orphans and Bahraini women with children of non-Bahraini minors.
The Minister also explained that the project, which is carried out on an area of more than 2,000 square metres, provides an upgraded design of apartments and common areas, provides comfort and privacy for the beneficiaries, with an interest in providing a number of facilities serving the residents of the project, such as shops, and a hall for social and cultural events, taking into account the needs of those with special needs in the design of the building to ensure easy access to apartments and mobility within the building.
The Minister of Housing and Urban Planning affirmed that the Ministry of Housing Services for Bahraini Women attaches continuing importance both to the implementation of projects that serve women or the development of housing legislation and standards that serve this segment of women citizens, as well as addressing women's requests to benefit from the diverse housing options offered in partnership with the private sector housing financing programme, which provided housing solutions for a large segment of women citizens.
For its part, Her Excellency Ms. Loah Salih Al-Awadi, Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Women, appreciated the level of cooperation between the Council and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning to provide housing services to Bahraini This cooperation has resulted in many gains over the past and, most notably, the expansion of the criteria for the use of category V applications, Eliminate the requirement that a wife does not use a property through inheritance to benefit from housing services.
The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Women expressed her aspiration for the successful efforts of the joint committee of the Supreme Council for Women and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning to achieve further housing gains for Bahraini women during the next phase.
