Minister of Housing and Urban Planning headed the Kingdom's delegation to the World Urban Forum in Cairo

Her Excellency Mrs. Amna bint Ahmed Al-Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, chaired the delegation of Bahrain participating in the opening of the World Urban Forum in its twelfth edition, hosted by the sister Arab Republic of Egypt in cooperation with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT) from 4 to 8 November. "Everything starts locally to work together for sustainable cities and communities." with the participation of more than 20 thousand participants from 172 States, as well as representatives of many international and local organizations.
The Kingdom of Bahrain participates in this international event with a government delegation of a number of entities s Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt, During its participation, the delegation highlights the efforts of the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 in areas related to urban development. In addition to reviewing the most prominent development projects and programmes that the Kingdom is working to implement within the framework of the Government's Programme 2023-2026.
Minister Al-Rumaihi stated that participating in the work of the World Urban Forum in its twelfth edition is an opportunity to highlight the gains and achievements made in the overall development march led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, King of the country.
The sessions of the Forum address debates on urban development, such as raising awareness of sustainable urbanization through partnership between stakeholders and citizens, improving collective knowledge on sustainable urban development through open and inclusive discussion, sharing best practices and policies, and lessons learned, as well as enhancing cooperation and coordination among various relevant stakeholders on sustainable development.

In a related context, Minister Al-Rumaihi held a bilateral meeting with Her Excellency Dr. Rania Ahmed Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The meetings reviewed ways of joint cooperation in the areas of planning, urban development and housing services and exchange expertise, experiences and visits, with the aim of promoting plans and programs in the fields of housing, planning and urban development s Sustainable Development Goals 2030 (SDGs 2030), and a number of topics relevant to SDG 2030 implementation efforts were discussed in the light of the Forum's session discussions.
