The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning announced the completion of the maintenance of the residential building that was hit by fire in the Luzi area last May, noting that the residents of the residential building were contacted to return to their apartments, after confirming the safety of all facilities, and that the General Directorate of Civil Defence undertook the necessary technical assistance.
The Ministry also expressed its thanks and appreciation to all families and families living in residential architecture who have demonstrated the utmost cooperation throughout the previous period with the specialized technical maintenance, audit and inspection team of the building, through the rapid evacuation of the residential apartments so that the competent team can complete maintenance work to ensure their return and safety.
The Ministry explained that maintenance included replacing all electrical connections and closed glass in all common areas with open and ventilated glass in addition to providing electrical insulation systems between floors and installing surveillance cameras in each role, In addition to the inspection and maintenance of all connections within the apartments, as well as the maintenance of smoke detection systems and fire control systems in accordance with the requirements approved by the General Directorate of Civil Defence, as well as the dyeing of walls and the installation of floors for the architecture.
The Ministry confirmed that the competent teams of the Ministry and the Housing Real Estate Company will follow the procedures for citizens to return to residential apartments again, with a willingness to answer all inquiries and provide support under the usual maintenance procedures for the administration of the beneficiaries' union.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning said that the government team, which in addition to housing includes: Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture, Electricity and Water Authority and Housing Bank, which is mandated to ensure that the main electrical connections and transformers and the pressure of loads are checked in all residential building projects Having recently completed the examination of all the buildings in the various governorates of the Kingdom, The team inspected 207 residential buildings, and the processing and maintenance of some of the contrary electrical connections were provided in some of the buildings, In addition to ensuring the safety of electrical connections in common areas.
The Ministry indicated that the technical team's procedures included repairing any technical defect or incorrect connections that were immediately monitored without any financial expenses incurred by the residents of the apartment, while cooperating with the residents of the apartments to maintain the treatment procedure provided in the apartment.
The Ministry confirmed that this measure is part of a number of precautionary measures implemented by the Ministry during the past phase to ensure the safety of all residents of residential buildings. It called on residents of residential apartments to see the guidelines on security and safety standards announced in the Ministry's official accounts on social media platforms, namely: Ensure the efficient operation of smoke and heat detectors in the apartment, avoid random storage on all floors and residential building facilities, which impedes the smooth safe exit in times of emergency and fire, as well as not occupying corridors between apartments and exits as they take significant space from the floor space, and avoid placing or installing handmade locks on doors leading to the emergency ladder.
Also among the safety measures announced by the Ministry is the need to avoid the installation of iron barriers or decorations on the windows of residential apartments, which impedes the movement of evacuation in times of emergency and to ensure periodic inspection of electrical connections, electricity distribution board and appliances following the regulations of the Electricity and Water Authority; The obligation not to enter the electricity room and cable area in residential buildings except for authorized persons and ensure that electrical sockets switches are closed after completion of use, Avoid using the plug extension panel unless needed with quality assurance.
For its part, the General Directorate of Civil Defence of the Ministry of Interior indicated that it had reviewed the public safety requirements in the building in the Luzi region to ensure the availability of fire protection requirements such as alarm and fire-resistant materials and the smooth movement of emergency tracks within the residential building, as well as adhering to the best means of periodic follow-up and maintenance of the Ministry's alarm and fire systems in residential buildings in the Kingdom of BahRof Bahrain.
