The two ministers pointed out that the last phase witnessed the implementation of many projects that contributed to the implementation of the royal directive by building 40,000 housing units, and achieving the objectives of the government's program, foremost of which are the projects of Bahrain's new cities and residential complex projects, and this was the result of joint coordination between various ministries and government agencies. Emphasizing that these goals were not limited to providing housing units only, but the gains extended to develop all areas that witnessed the implementation of housing projects, by linking road networks, sewage and other services to the areas surrounding these projects, stressing that the next stage will witness the continuation of building on what has been achieved, In an effort to provide more services to citizens.
This came during the inspection visit paid by H.E. Eng. Ibrahim bin Hassan Al-Hawaj, Minister of Works, and H.E. Amna bint Ahmed Al-Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, to the city of East Sitra, to inspect the completion rates of the construction and infrastructure works in the project, and the needs of providing main outlets and linking the city to the network The surrounding roads, in the presence of a number of officials from the Ministry of Works and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning.
His Excellency the Minister of Works stressed that the ministry is working to provide service and development projects for citizens, and to enhance the pace of growth and development efforts that meet their aspirations through achieving integration between service ministries to serve the citizen, and to ensure easy and smooth movement for road users, both citizens and residents, in light of urban development. A new arterial street with a high capacity will be provided to serve the East Sitra housing project and strengthen its connection with the existing road network.
The Minister explained that the ministry has completed the detailed designs for the project, which were awarded earlier by the Tender and Auctions Board to the engineering consultant, Dar SSH, at an amount of 424,000 Bahraini dinars, in order to prepare detailed designs and tender documents for implementation work.
He added that the project will be implemented in two phases, the first of which aims to provide main outlets for the East Sitra housing project, and to link it to the surrounding road network by constructing two sea bridges, one northwest of the housing project and the other southwest of the project connected to a street with 4 lanes in each direction (under the name Sharq Street). Sitra) is linked to the north by Sheikh Salman bin Ahmed Al-Fateh Street, and to the south by Street 1, passing through Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Street.
Minister Al-Hawaj added that the first phase also includes the rehabilitation of Sheikh Salman bin Ahmed Al-Fateh Street with a length of two kilometers between its intersection with East Sitra Street until its intersection to the west with Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Street.
On the other hand, the Minister said that the second phase of the project includes linking the housing project with the road network in southern Bahrain by creating a street with three lanes in each direction linking the housing project from the intersection of Umm Al Saad Street in the north to the intersection of King Hamad Street with Street 96 in the south, with the development of ground intersections Managed by traffic lights, this stage aims to increase the capacity of the street and improve the area's outlets.
The Minister of Works stressed that the city of East Sitra is one of the leading housing projects that will contribute to providing housing services to citizens, pointing out that the ministry attaches great importance to the city in sanitation projects, based on the ministry’s strategy in developing infrastructure, and providing a healthy, safe and sound environment for citizens.
Al-Hawaj explained that the ministry is currently studying a project to build a sewage conveyor line from the city of East Sitra to the Sitra North sewage treatment plant, as this project will contribute to providing sewage services and building networks for properties that will be built in the city.
He pointed out that the ministry is also studying the project of building a conveyor line for treated sewage water from Sitra North Sewage Treatment Plant to East Sitra City, which comes within the ministry's strategy to expand the utilization of treated water, stressing that the project will contribute to achieving the desired goals to ensure Water sustainability, which is one of the water sources that the Kingdom of Bahrain benefits from in irrigating farms and green spaces.
For her part, Her Excellency Mrs. Amna bint Ahmed Al-Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, confirmed that the pace of implementation of residential units and plots projects in East Sitra, in addition to infrastructure works, is witnessing an acceleration during the current stage, in line with the timetable prepared for the implementation of the various stages of the project in cooperation with the Chinese executing company CMEC For construction and infrastructure works in the new city.
