Her Excellency Mrs. Amna bint Ahmed Al-Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the patronage of His Majesty the King of the Great Kingdom of the Country, is God preserved and sponsored by Him. and the interest of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Investing in Bahraini youth is a constant priority, noting the prominent role of young people, especially those from the engineering and service sectors. to contribute significantly to the Kingdom's achievement of advanced steps in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals 2030, in particular Goal 11 on "Making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable".
The Minister of Housing and Urban Planning stated that Bahraini youth are a key pillar and driver of the Kingdom of Bahrain's development projects and programmes and that they are the objective of efforts to implement the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, noting the potential and creative potential of the Kingdom's youth, which have contributed to their empowerment in various fields.
The Minister of Housing and Urban Planning said that the United Nations Human Settlements Programme's selection of the title "Engaging young people in creating a better urban future" as a motto for World Habitat Day this year underscores the attention paid to youth at the international level, especially in the area of urban development, which is at the forefront of global United Nations and governmental priorities.
Minister Al-Rumaihi explained that the Ministry's engineers represent the main bases in the implementation of housing projects, which were planned according to the highest standards and specifications to provide a sustainable urban environment for community members and visitors, most notably housing city projects, which have received numerous international praises from various international events.
Youth members of the Ministry and Housing Bank contributed to the development of innovative housing programmes and projects that provide sustainable housing solutions for citizens, as well as ideas received annually from young engineers in the Kingdom through the "Housing Bank Award for Engineering Creativity", which includes creative ideas for the design of sustainable housing and cities.
It should be noted that World Habitat Day is one of the official events designated by the United Nations General Assembly on the first Monday of October each year, with the aim of promoting awareness of the shared responsibility of providing sustainable cities.
