The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, in cooperation with the municipal councils of Muharraq governorate and the southern region, organized two workshops on "Regulatory requirements in the areas of housing projects and a guideline for them", as part of the continuing efforts of the Ministry within the induction programme with the most significant amendments included in the new resolution, for members of the municipal councils and the Capital Secretariat.
During the two workshops, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning confirmed that the regulatory requirements for the construction of housing project areas provide the flexibility necessary for the beneficiaries of housing services to increase the size of housing units through the legal additions that have been authorized. The new amendments to the requirements also address a number of repeated construction offences.
The Ministry stated that in order to facilitate citizens, engineering offices and contracting companies to learn about the new controls of the new requirements, a guide was issued, which provides all the information and requirements for issuing building permits and initiating additions through easy steps and simple requirements, noting that this guide is available on the websites of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning and the Planning and Urban Development Authority.
The Ministry reiterated the call for compliance with regulatory requirements that strike a balance between preserving the architectural and civilizational character of housing areas and citizens' requirements, noting the importance of obtaining building permits prior to construction work and additions.
The workshop witnessed a presentation on the content of Decree No. 899 of 2024 issuing regulatory requirements in the areas of housing projects, which comes to achieve more gains for citizens benefiting from voucher services and housing units. The discussion was also opened at the conclusion of the workshops between officials and members of municipal councils and attendees on the items of the resolution, and an exchange of views on the coordination mechanisms to implement the provisions of the new resolution.
