Her Excellency Dr. Jaleela bint Al Sayed Jawad Hasan, Minister of Health, presented Her Excellency Ms. Amna bint Ahmed Al Romaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning’s accreditation certificate under the “Health-Promoting Workplaces” programme, after the Ministry fulfilled the programme requirements and the approved assessment criteria for the Diamond Level.
The certificate was presented in the presence of Dr. Lulwa Rashid Showaiter, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Ms. Fatima Ibrahim Al Mannai, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, and a number of officials from both ministries.
Her Excellency Dr. Jaleela bint Al Sayed Jawad Hasan, Minister of Health, congratulated the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning on receiving the accreditation certificate, commending its commitment to employees’ health and safety, and its keenness to provide a work environment that supports the adoption of healthy lifestyles.
Her Excellency affirmed that the “Health-Promoting Workplaces” programme comes as part of the Ministry of Health’s efforts to promote health awareness and consolidate preventive practices across various work environments, through the implementation of a set of standards and awareness and guidance programmes covering healthy nutrition, physical activity, anti-smoking, mental health, and occupational health, thereby contributing to improving employees’ health and quality of life.
For her part, Her Excellency Ms. Amna bint Ahmed Al Romaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, affirmed that the Ministry’s receipt of this certificate reflects its continuous commitment to providing a healthy, safe, and motivating work environment, and to enhancing the quality of work life, considering human resources a fundamental pillar in institutional development and in improving the quality of services provided to citizens.
Minister Al Romaihi noted that the Ministry is keen to adopt initiatives and programmes that contribute to raising employees’ health awareness and encouraging them to follow healthy lifestyles, in addition to reinforcing practices that support mental and occupational health. This positively reflects on employees’ wellbeing and ability to contribute, while enhancing performance and productivity levels.
She explained that fulfilling the accreditation requirements was the result of the integrated efforts of the Ministry’s work teams and employees’ engagement with the awareness and health programmes and activities implemented. She affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to building on this achievement by developing qualitative initiatives and expanding participation in them, ensuring the sustainability of healthy practices and embedding them within the institutional work culture.
The programme, supervised by the Health Promotion Directorate at the Ministry of Health, aims to encourage government and private entities to provide health-supportive work environments, in accordance with standards that are subject to follow-up and evaluation to verify compliance with accreditation requirements.
