Equal Opportunities Committee at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning Holds Its Periodic Meeting for 2026

The Equal Opportunities Committee at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning held its third periodic meeting for 2026, chaired by Ms. Donia Faisal Sarhan, Assistant Undersecretary for Resources and Information at the Ministry and Chairperson of the Committee.

Ms. Donia Faisal Sarhan affirmed the importance of continuing to develop plans and initiatives, and enhancing the integration of women’s needs into the Ministry’s programmes and development plans, in a manner that consolidates the principle of equal opportunities and supports a motivating institutional work environment that invests in competencies and provides opportunities for participation and professional development.

She referred to the support enjoyed by Bahraini women from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, may God protect and preserve him, and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him, which enhance women’s contributions as active partners in the comprehensive development process. She affirmed the Ministry’s keenness to continue cooperation and coordination with the Supreme Council for Women in support of achieving shared objectives.

She also noted that the Silver Jubilee of the establishment of the Supreme Council for Women reflects the pioneering role undertaken by the Council, chaired by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women, may God protect her, and the achievements and qualitative contributions it has made in advancing Bahraini women and enhancing their active participation in the comprehensive development process.

The Committee discussed updates on the implementation of its annual plan for 2026, the level of progress achieved in meeting its objectives and main pillars, as well as the follow-up of programmes and initiatives aimed at strengthening the principle of equal opportunities and gender balance, in line with the priorities of the National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women 2025–2026.
