Her Excellency Mrs. Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain's celebration of Bahraini Women's Day constitutes a national occasion to recall the rich record of excellence, creativity and innovation achieved by Bahraini women in various fields of work, noting that Bahraini women receive continuous support and attention from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the country, may God protect and preserve him And the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him.
Her happiness praised the pivotal role of the Supreme Council for Women, headed by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women, may God protect her, and the efforts and programs it is undertaking that have contributed to enhancing the progress of Bahraini women and their transition from the stage of empowerment to leadership and competing with merit in various sectors.
This came during the attendance of Her Excellency the Minister of Housing and Urban Planning at the celebration organized by the Ministry today in the presence of its female members from various departments and divisions, which was held under the slogan “Bahraini Women… Excellence – Creativity – Innovation”, where Her Excellency confirmed that the Ministry will continue to support the efforts of the Supreme Council for Women and enhance programs that provide women with greater opportunities for leadership and effective participation in shaping the future of urban development in the Kingdom.
Minister Al Rumaihi explained that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning is proud of the achievements made by women in the housing sector, whether as beneficiaries of services or as an active element within the national cadres working in the ministry, stressing that the ministry's female members constitute a fundamental pillar in the completion of major housing projects, starting from preparing designs and technical studies, through project management and following up on implementation at work sites Leading to the formulation of programs and initiatives that have enabled thousands of Bahraini families to obtain adequate housing according to the highest standards.
She added that women working in the ministry have contributed over the past years to enhancing the quality of social housing projects and innovating modern work methods, especially in the field of digital services and developing entitlement mechanisms, in line with the government's directions in enhancing efficiency and improving the quality of services.
The Minister of Housing and Urban Planning indicated that the number of beneficiaries of ownership services and housing financing from 2011 until the end of 2025 reached more than 6,555 Bahraini beneficiaries from various categories, stressing that these numbers reflect the importance that the government attaches to enhancing family stability for Bahraini women.
She stressed that the Ministry has, over the past years, expanded the scope of women's applications covered by housing support, in addition to exempting widows of minors from all amounts related to the housing service of the deceased beneficiary, within the framework of protecting the Bahraini family and enhancing social security.
For her part, Ms. Donia Faisal Sarhan, Assistant Undersecretary for Resources and Information and Head of the Equal Opportunities Committee at the Ministry, stressed that Bahraini Women's Day is an occasion to renew pride in the contributions of the Ministry's female members who have proven their competence and ability to provide high-level performance in various fields of work, noting that the efforts of the female employees included preparing studies and engineering plans, supervising the implementation of projects, and participating in developing sustainable housing policies In addition to their active role in supporting sectors such as human resources and information technology.
Sarhan added that the Ministry's Equal Opportunities Committee is keen to implement a set of initiatives that support achieving gender balance, most notably preparing the committee's strategic plan, developing training programs to raise the efficiency of female employees, enhancing cooperation with the Supreme Council for Women, and organizing awareness workshops and lectures that contribute to enhancing equal opportunities and including women's needs within the Ministry's plans and programs.
