Her Excellency Mrs. Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, confirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain is keen to enhance joint cooperation between the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in a way that contributes to unifying visions, aspirations and goals, which would provide modern and innovative housing services to citizens in accordance with the goals of sustainable development.
Minister Amna Al Rumaihi explained that the social housing sector receives care and attention from Their Majesties and Highnesses, leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, may God protect and preserve them, stressing the importance of highlighting Gulf housing work in regional and international forums.
This came when Her Excellency the Minister of Housing and Urban Planning headed the delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain participating in the twenty-third meeting of Their Excellencies the ministers concerned with housing affairs in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, which was held today in the capital, Kuwait, during which the joint Gulf housing action plan extending from 2024 to 2030 was discussed and a review of the latest developments took place.The draft unified rules for property owners in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and housing information rules.
Minister Al Rumaihi pointed out the importance of exchanging experiences between the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in a way that contributes to the development of housing services and projects, and benefiting from successful experiences that advance the pace of providing housing services to citizens in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, through the activities of the Fourth Gulf Housing Week.
Minister Al-Rumaihi noted the joint Gulf consensus in the field of innovative housing solutions and highlighting Gulf housing work in international forums, based on the results of the Social Housing Innovation Conference and Exhibition, which was held last April in the Kingdom of Bahrain with prominent Gulf and international participation, where the joint consensus was reached on the importance of adopting innovative and new visions.In designing sustainable social housing projects, and developing legislation and regulations to provide the necessary flexibility to keep pace with changes Achieving a balance between economic growth and the growth of the social housing sector, and exchanging experiences, expertise and information.
The Minister indicated that the common aspect in the meetings of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries is the review of housing policies and plans in providing housing services to citizens, noting the efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain in seeking to sustain the provision of housing services to citizens in the long term, and to reduce the time periods for benefiting from the housing service in cooperation with the private sector.
During the meeting, a number of decisions were discussed and approved on the topics on the agenda, which included the joint Gulf housing action plan during the phase extending from 2024 to 2030, and the adoption of housing information rules, so that member states continue to provide the General Secretariat with updated statistical data.
During the meeting, the final version of the document "Unified Rules for Owners of Joint Real Estate in the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries" was also approved.
It was decided during the meeting to hold the second Gulf Housing Conference in the State of Kuwait during next September, with the host country determining the title and topics of the conference, in addition to approving the holding of the fourth Gulf Housing Week for the year 2026 in the United Arab Emirates.
In a related context, Her Excellency Mrs. Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, along with Their Excellencies the Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, made an inspection tour of the Gulf Housing Exhibition, which is held within the activities of the Gulf Housing Week, where she was briefed on the programs and projects displayed in the pavilions of the GCC countries.
Her Excellency also visited the Kingdom of Bahrain’s pavilion at the exhibition, which showcases the most prominent projects included within the government land development rights program in partnership with the private sector and the projects that have been implemented and are currently being implemented within this program, in addition to the options offered by housing financing programs.The pavilion also includes the experience of the "Bayti" platform.Real estate, which provides various options for available properties at prices commensurate with the value of housing financing It also provides a number of services classified according to real estate, regions, governorates, and budgets, in line with government funding or through commercial banks.
The pavilion includes a special space for the Muharraq City Development Project, which aims to preserve the historical and cultural identity of Bahrain’s buildings and cities.
