Her Excellency Ms. Amna bint Ahmed Al-Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, received at her office in the Ministry Dr. Raniya Hidaya, Regional Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, Dr. Ayman Al-Hafnawi, Head of the Country Programme and Representative of the United Nations Human SettlSettlements Programme in the GulCooperation Council.
During the meeting, His Excellency Minister Al-Rumaihi reviewed the Kingdom of Bahrain's efforts to develop urban strategies in order to improve the development objectives related to the housing sector and to develop urban planning, noting that the Kingdom of Bahrain has taken many steps to provide adequate housing for citizens through a range of innovative housing plans and programmes.
Minister Al-Rumaihi also discussed ways to strengthen joint cooperation and exchange of experiences between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Regional Office of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, strengthen partnership and cooperation with a view to improving sustainable urban development, as well as relevant files, particularly in the areas of urban development and housing.
For its part, Dr. Rania Hidea reviewed the United Nations Human Settlements Programme's new plan for sustainable urbanization development, promoting regional cooperation among cities, sharing experiences and knowledge, promoting sustainable urbanization that contributes to climate-resilient development and protecting cities from further contributing to environmental degradation.
Dr. Raniya Hidaya, Regional Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, commended Bahrain's efforts in implementing urban development strategies, particularly in relation to housing policy development and the provision of adequate housing for citizens, stressing the importance of drawing on experience and expertise and enhancing cooperation to achieve sustainable development goals and improve urban policies and strategies.
