HE Minister of Housing and Urban Planning Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi held a working meeting with the President of the China Overseas Development Association (CODA), Mr. He Zhenwei, in Beijing, China.
During the meeting, Minister Al Rumaihi praised the successful partnerships between the two countries, and reviewed the most prominent initiatives and programs adopted by the Ministry to provide social housing services to citizens, through the housing finance program, the government land development rights program in partnership with the private sector, and the completion of projects in housing cities.
The delegation highlighted the promising investment opportunities in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the participation of the private sector in providing and developing housing services in the Kingdom and building more successful partnerships with major Chinese companies specialized in this field.
The delegation also reviewed the facilities provided by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce in the field of industrial development, especially for industries related to the implementation of housing projects in the Kingdom.
The delegation also discussed investment opportunities in the implementation of a number of development projects in the Kingdom, which are included in the strategic projects of Bahrain Real Estate Investment Company (Edamah).
For his part, Mr. He Zhenwei, President of the China Society for Overseas Development, stressed the Society's keenness to learn about Bahrain's experience in providing social housing for citizens, especially after the introduction of partnership programs with the private sector. He also expressed the association's interest in identifying investment opportunities in the Kingdom's development and industrial sectors, stressing the association's keenness to support the investment efforts of Chinese companies in these projects, through its role based on supporting the provision of investment and development services to Chinese companies abroad.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides agreed to continue periodic meetings and build on the existing principles of cooperation, with the aim of achieving more fruitful results of the Bahraini-Chinese partnership in the housing and industrial fields, for the benefit of the two friendly countries.
The meeting was attended by HE Dr. Mohammed Ghassan Sheikho, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Republic of China, Mr. Christopher Calvert, CEO of Bahrain Real Estate Investment Company (Edama), Engineer Balsam Al Salman, Assistant Undersecretary for Engineering Affairs at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, Mr. Khalid Salman Al Qasimi, Director of the Industrial Development Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and a number of officials from both sides.
