Dr. Abdullah Talib, Chairman of the Council for Regulating the Practice of Engineering Professions, confirmed that the guideline for reconstruction in urban heritage areas is considered one of the initiatives aimed at preserving and protecting the historical and cultural character of the buildings and cities of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Dr. Abdullah explained that this guide is characterized by clarity and ease in presenting design controls, and will have a positive impact on preserving the cultural heritage of the cities of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

It is noteworthy that the preparation of this guide comes within the framework of the plan to implement the Royal Directive of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the country, regarding preserving the historical and cultural identity of the buildings and cities of Bahrain, and developing the city of Muharraq, in order to preserve the traditional urban capital of this ancient city.

The guide contains a number of design controls and engineering and artistic models inspired by the ancient architectural character of the city of Muharraq, with its buildings, roads and alleys that reflect the authentic historical fragrance and the extent of society’s interaction with the environment and the urban fabric surrounding it, which contributes to creating harmony between civilization and the natural environment.
