Her Excellency Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, held a joint working meeting with His Excellency Mr. Francisco André, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Republic of Portugal, on the sidelines of the two delegations’ participation in the meetings of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development 2023 at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
During the meeting, relations between the two friendly countries were reviewed, ways of cooperation were discussed in the fields of social housing and urban planning sectors, and the exchange of expertise and experiences between the two countries. A number of topics up for discussion in the meetings of the United Nations Political Forum were also discussed.
During the meeting, Mrs. Amna Al Rumaihi touched on the Ministry’s plans to provide housing services to citizens, and the programs that the Ministry recently introduced to provide immediate and sustainable housing services, in partnership with the private sector, in addition to efforts to provide projects and services in housing cities.
The Minister also referred to the developmental steps achieved in the field of urban planning and development, and updating regulatory standards and requirements, to serve all sectors in the Kingdom.
For his part, Mr. Francisco Andre, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Republic of Portugal, appreciated the Kingdom’s efforts in providing housing services and developing the urban planning sector, stressing the readiness for cooperation and the exchange of expertise and experiences, which contributes to enriching the plans in both countries.
