Her Excellency Mrs. Amna bint Ahmed Al-Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain attaches special priority to the implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals in its government plans and programmes, based on its keenness to participate in international efforts in achieving sustainability in various fields, noting the voluntary reports submitted by the Kingdom in In this regard, which highlighted the progress made by the Kingdom in this regard.
The Minister said, during a working meeting with Her Excellency Mrs. Maymouna Sharif, Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Program on the sidelines of her participation in the second session of UN-Habitat held in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, that the policies related to the implementation of housing cities in the Kingdom have taken into account the provision of sustainability standards stipulated in the eleventh goal. One of the goals of sustainable development, through the general plans of those cities, which included, in addition to housing projects, the provision of commercial, educational, health and sports facilities, which are currently being coordinated with the relevant authorities to implement them according to a plan prepared for that during the next stage.
The minister added that the government was keen to involve the private sector in its development plans, especially in the social housing sector, as it contributed to the provision of a large number of housing units in the completed plan to implement the royal directive to provide 40,000 housing units, and stated that this partnership will witness a greater expansion during the next stage. Through the projects that will be implemented in housing cities within the government land development rights program, in addition to involving it in the provision of community services and facilities, through the government land investment platform, which reviews government lands designated for investment, and works to accelerate the implementation of development projects for citizens and residents in the Kingdom. .
On the other hand, the Minister reviewed the policies and plans related to providing immediate housing services to citizens, as she touched on the housing financing program, which is witnessing great demand by citizens, in light of raising the ceiling of the maximum and minimum financing, and providing it with a variety of financing purposes, to include the possibility of purchasing a unit, apartment or A housing plot, building a housing unit, buying or building a property on the property of a fourth-degree relative, in addition to providing the option for a number of citizens to benefit from financing to build joint properties.
The Minister also discussed the plans of the Government Land Development Rights Program, which aims for real estate development companies to build housing units and market them exclusively to beneficiaries of financing services, at prices appropriate to the value of those financing.
For her part, the Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Program appreciated the Kingdom's efforts in providing housing services to citizens with limited income, and the progress made in implementing the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, especially the eleventh goal, noting her recent visit to the Kingdom, and her visit to a number of projects. in Salman City, which reflected the interest the government attaches to this vital sector, wishing the Kingdom continued success and progress.
