Her Excellency Mrs. Amna bint Ahmed Al-Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, received in her office at the Ministry the Director General of the Chinese CMEC company in charge of implementing the East Sitra city project, Mr. Wang Liwen, and a number of officials of the Chinese company, where they discussed the developments of the project and the new phases implemented from it.
During the meeting, Al-Rumaihi stressed the importance of adhering to the timetable for all the agreed-upon phases, so that citizens can hand over their units as soon as possible, noting that the pace of work is proceeding in a reassuring and harmonious way along with the infrastructure and service projects in the city.
Al-Rumaihi expressed the Ministry's full readiness to cooperate with the Chinese company, within the framework of the policy of openness to the experiences of countries that have great experience in the field of housing work, to benefit from those experiences in enriching housing plans and creating distinctive solutions.
For their part, the Chinese company expressed its full commitment to the time plan for the project to implement the city of East Sitra, noting that the first phase of the project is witnessing a remarkable acceleration and is nearing completion, after which it will move to other phases, with the same speed and sequence agreed upon earlier, to be in line with service projects and infrastructure projects.
The Chinese company showed great cooperation in the field of expanding its contribution to the reconstruction and construction operations in the Kingdom, under the supervision of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, reviewing the latest technologies in the field of construction that are relied upon in their major projects.
During the meeting, aspects of cooperation in the field of government land development rights project were discussed by reviewing the implementation plan of the program in partnership with the private sector, to provide 19 thousand housing units. This program comes within the framework of implementing the royal directives to continue development plans for the housing sector in partnership with private sector.
It is worth noting that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning concluded contracts for the implementation of the city of East Sitra in cooperation with the Chinese side in 2019, according to which work is currently underway to implement and rehabilitate the city to establish housing units, infrastructure for housing lands, and facilities in the city, according to a timetable that includes three stages.
