His Excellency Mr. Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Mutawa, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the National Committee for Information and Population praised the national efforts that work to highlight the status of the Kingdom of Bahrain with the international community, stressing the esteemed government's interest in international reports and its constant work to achieve sustainable development goals.
This came during his presidency of the preparatory meeting to prepare the national report on the progress made in implementing the new urban plan for Habitat, through visual communication in the presence of Engineer Bassem bin Yaqoub Al-Hamar, Minister of Housing and a number of international representatives and relevant authorities. Al-Mutawa indicated that the Kingdom of Bahrain is keen to implement urban plans in a manner. Continued, noting the adoption of the urban plan in 2016 during the Habitat III meeting.
For his part, Engineer Bassem bin Yaqoub Al-Hamr, Minister of Housing, presented the report on the achievements made in the field of urban development and exploration of urban issues, as well as the first voluntary report in July 2018, which contained a special chapter on sustainable urban development.
The Minister affirmed that efforts would be made to work on national reports and to highlight the Kingdom of Bahrain's image in the international community, especially with regard to the sustainable development goals. Pointing out that the Kingdom has been a pioneer in preparing national reports since the first Habitat meeting in 1976.
Engineer Al-Hamar added that the Ministry of Housing, in light of the UN goals, has formed a special team for the ministry to work on preparing the national report on progress made in implementing the new urban plan for habitat, which would crystallize the national report in order to track progress, assess impact and ensure effective implementation.
Within the framework of the work on preparing the national report, Sheikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, Director of the Housing Policies and Strategic Planning Department at the Ministry of Housing, head of the report preparation team - reviewed - the themes of the national report for the year 2021 AD, as it dealt with the participation of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development. "Habitat III" in 2016 AD, in which the new urban plan was approved.
She also indicated that the Ministry of Housing is working diligently to review and follow up the mechanisms of the implementation of the new urban plan, as it is the general coordinator of the government sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain, in order to ensure understanding of the responsibilities and tasks and to define the mechanism for providing and delivering information, and that the Ministry of Housing provides various reports that work on the basis of qualitative and quantitative analysis.
