The Minister of Housing, Bassem Bin Yaqoub Al-Hamar, revealed that the number of beneficiaries of the Mazaya Program until the first quarter of this year 2020 has reached 5095 actual beneficiaries, while the total volume of spending in the real estate, finance, contracting, engineering and retail sectors is BD 837 million.

  The Minister of Housing reviewed the statistics of the program during the first quarter of this year, indicating that the number of qualification certificates issued by the ministry since the beginning of 2020, which is the first step of the procedural course to benefit from the program, has reached 382 certificates, while the number of requests that have been allocated to beneficiaries after Completing all procedures of 275 applications, indicating that the reduction in the procedural cycle of the Mazaya program contributed to the speedy completion of the transactions of citizens applying to benefit from this program.

  In this regard, Eng. Al-Hamr indicated that the Ministry of Housing developed the procedural session to benefit from the Mazaya program in coordination with the Housing Bank, so that the time period for it was shortened from 105 days to 15 days for new applications and in the event that all documents and requirements are provided to the applicant, noting that this procedure It comes in line with the noticeable increase in the rate of requests, which requires the development of procedures to ensure the maintenance of the immediate nature of the service, and the acceleration of citizens' access to housing, indicating that this comes in the framework of implementing the commitment contained in the government’s program on facilitating transactions and speeding up government procedures E for citizens.

  The minister said that the statistics indicate an increase in the rates of allocating the services of Mazaya Program annually during the past years, pointing to the increase in the number from 773 beneficiaries annually in the years 2014 and 2015, to reach 1358 beneficiaries in 2019, indicating a noticeable increase in the demand for benefit from the program, when It provides advantages, most notably immediate access to immediate service, and giving the citizen the flexibility to choose the location and type of unit that best suits the needs of his family.

  Eng. Basem Al-Hamr touched on the statistics of the economic impact, as he indicated that the total amount of spending provided by the Mazaya Program in the relevant sectors, such as the real estate and finance sectors, and the contracting, engineering and retail sectors has reached BD 837 million, which confirms the benefit of this program in providing the national economy In the kingdom.

  The Minister indicated that the volume of financing that banks and commercial banks granted to citizens to obtain units from the real estate sector amounted to 481 million Bahraini dinars, while the volume of returns on banks participating in financing the program amounted to approximately 100 million dinars, and the program also contributed to providing the contracting and consulting sector with 252 million dinars, while benefiting more than 5,000 beneficiaries of the program was reflected in providing the retail and furniture sectors with 4 million dinars.


The Minister of Housing noted that the Mazaya program, according to its advanced statistics, confirms that the success of the esteemed government’s vision in engaging the private sector in providing social housing services to citizens, indicating that this program contributes effectively to implementing government obligations contained in the government’s program, in the forefront of which is the housing commitment to work To provide 25 thousand housing units.
