Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture, stressed the Ministry's keenness, in coordination with the relevant government agencies, to continue organizing the urban fabric of Muharraq City Promoting an integrated environment that takes into account the privacy of the place and preserves the heritage and architectural character, while at the same time providing services that meet the aspirations of citizens.
He pointed out that the project is concerned with maintaining heritage buildings and landmarks, and seeks to achieve integrated urban development that includes environmental, urban and social aspects, as it is planned to plant 100,000 trees in the old city of Muharraq, with a focus on diversifying species to suit the local environment and enhance the city's climate, in addition to providing shade trees that give the neighborhoods an aesthetic character and environmental comfort for residents and visitors The plan also includes the construction of 72 green spaces with a total area of 12,000 square meters, which will contribute to enhancing environmental sustainability in the heart of the historic city.
Al Mubarak emphasized the Kingdom of Bahrain's commitment to achieving sustainable urban development, ensuring the continuity and integration of projects, in line with the principles of Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030. He emphasized that preserving the fabric of urban heritage and creating visual harmony between heritage and modern buildings are essential at all stages of planning and implementation.
He explained that the project dedicates the preservation of the cultural and architectural identity of the city of Muharraq at every step of development, while ensuring the strengthening of its role as a prominent cultural and civilizational center at the level of the Kingdom and the region.
The Minister of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture stated that the Muharraq City Development Project is a comprehensive national project that aims to continue strengthening the Kingdom of Bahrain's position as a country firmly rooted in its ancient history and rich in its cultural heritage.
