Gudaibiya Palace, Office of the Deputy Prime Minister - March 31, 2024:Coinciding with the celebration of the silver jubilee of the twenty-fifthanniversary of the accession of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, thegreat king of the country, may God protect and preserve him, the reins ofgovernment, His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Abdul Allah Al Khalifa, DeputyPrime Minister, this morning (Sunday - March 31, 2024), accompanied by a numberof Their Excellencies the ministers, visited the East Sitra City HousingProject, where His Excellency witnessed the ceremony of handing over the firstbatch of citizens the keys to their residential units, marking the gradualoperation of the city, and the inauguration of Implementation work for thesecond phase of the city project.
On this occasion, His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifastressed that the gains and achievements witnessed by the housing process overthe past twenty-five years were achieved thanks to the lofty royal visionsbased on providing the elements of adequate housing and decent living for theBahraini family, which was translated through the construction of cities. Newmodern housing with integrated facilities and services, as well as developingfinancing services and strengthening partnership programs between the publicand private sectors.
His Excellency pointed out that the housing sector has been able, duringthe silver jubilee era of His Majesty, may God support him, to assume the reinsof power, to achieve many achievements that represent a success story inmeeting the housing requirements of citizens with high quality and efficiency,foremost among which is the implementation of His Majesty’s directive, may Godprotect him and protect him, to provide 40,000 units. Residential buildings invarious governorates of the Kingdom, building five housing citiessimultaneously, and launching partnership programs with the private sector,which contributed to reducing waiting periods for benefiting from the housingservice.
His Excellency also appreciated the follow-up of His Royal Highness PrinceSalman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may Godprotect him, to give the social housing sector the utmost importance in thegovernment’s program (2023-2026), as it is one of the most prominent componentsof achieving living stability for citizens.
During the visit, His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister inspected thecity and its facilities, and also listened to an explanation about the ongoingconstruction work in the project.
His Excellency also inaugurated the work of implementing the units of the second phase, which includes the construction of 531 housing units, directing His Excellency to increase the pace of work in implementing the units in order to ensure the speedy delivery of them to citizens who have obtained certificates of eligibility, and in this regard, praising the efforts of the Bahrain team responsible for implementing the project,Which resulted in the completion of the implementation of 1,077 housing units in the first phase.Then His Excellency inspected one of the model units that had beenestablished as part of the first phase of the project. Her Excellency recalled the kindness of His Royal Highness Prince Salmanbin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him,in opening the city earlier last December, in a generous gesture from HisHighness that embodies the government’s keenness to improve the quality ofservices and develop them in a sustainable manner.
Minister Al-Rumaihi pointed out that the East Sitra housing project is amodel of an integrated city that provides all the elements of quality of life,including residential units, green areas, and advanced networks of main andsecondary roads, in addition to waterfronts, and paths designated for bicycleand pedestrian sports. The second phase will also include The projectimplemented many service, educational, health and commercial facilities.
Her Excellency announced that the Ministry has prepared a timetable to deliver the keys to the units to citizens after the beneficiaries complete the electronic withdrawal procedures and hand over the contracts, provided that all residential units are delivered to the beneficiaries within the first phase of work before the end of May 2024.
