Her Excellency Mrs. Amna bint Ahmed Al-Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, held a joint working meeting with Her Excellency Mrs. Maymouna Ahmed Sharif, Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Program at the United Nations Headquarters in New York State.

During the meeting, a number of issues related to the housing and urban planning sectors were discussed in the meetings of the high-level political forum on sustainable development, which is currently being held at the United Nations, with the aim of shedding light on the participation of the delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the work of the forum and its side events, and the most prominent of what is reviewed in the voluntary report For the Kingdom of Bahrain, as well as the discussion session organized by the Kingdom on the sidelines of the forum, entitled "Innovative and sustainable solutions to provide adequate housing", which reflects the Kingdom's keenness to innovate in providing housing programs that ensure the provision of decent services to citizens in a sustainable manner.

The meeting also reviewed the results of the UN-Habitat meetings held last month in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, and the Kingdom of Bahrain's keenness on the participation of a number of countries in issuing a joint decision that includes the importance of providing the elements for the sustainability of the provision of housing services to citizens.

Her Excellency Minister Amna bint Ahmed Al-Rumaihi touched on the most prominent developments in the housing programs that the ministry recently introduced to provide immediate services to citizens in partnership with the private sector, namely the housing finance program and the government land development rights program in partnership with the private sector, as well as efforts to provide projects and services in housing cities.
Her Excellency the Minister referred to the positive results achieved by the Housing Finance Exhibition in its second edition last June, which had more than 24,000 visitors, in a positive sign of citizens' interest and their keenness to benefit from financing services of all kinds and their various financing purposes, in addition to the success of the pilot phase. For the government land development rights program, which was embodied in the implementation of 93% of the reservations of housing units, which are the results that reflect the success of the government's visions in adopting innovative policies that aim to provide immediate and sustainable housing services.

For her part, Ms. Maymouna Sharif, Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Program, renewed her praise for the Kingdom's efforts in providing housing services to citizens through the adoption of multi-pronged policies, which she saw during her recent visit to the Kingdom in the first quarter of this year, in addition to the UN reports dealing with The results of the Kingdom’s plans in this field, wishing the Kingdom of Bahrain continued success and progress.
