Establishment of the Housing and Ownership Committee

In 1962, decree 2 was issued to establish the Housing and Ownership Department, that provided healthy and suitable housings for citizens with low and middle income, in exchange of monthly installments that matches their salaries.

1963

Laying the Foundation Stone of Isa Town

In 1963, the late Emir of Bahrain His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa patronized the ceremony of laying the foundation stone of Isa Town, and it is the town that carried his name. This event was the first step of the government in a march to provide social housing services for citizens

1975

The Establishment of the Ministry of Housing

In September of 1975, the late Emir His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa issued decree 18 stipulating the establishment of the Ministry of Housing.

1979

Establishing the Housing Bank

The housing bank was established in 1979, with the aim of providing real-estate financing for citizens with low and middle income.

1984

Laying the Foundation Stone for Hamad Town - 1984

In 1984, the Ministry of Housing inaugurated the second town of Bahrain, Hamad Town, which carried the name of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa

2001

Establishing Zayed Town Project

Based on the government’s efforts to build more housing cities, in 2001, Zayed Town was inaugurated, and witnessed the cooperation between Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.

On the 21st of May of 2013, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa deputized His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa to attend the ceremony of laying the foundation stone of East Hidd Project

Royal Order to Build 40,000 new housing units

On the 17th of December of 2013, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa ordered to build 40,000 housing units in the shortest time period possible, and handing them over to beneficiaries in order to provide them with high living standards.

Laying the Foundation Stone for East Sitra Project

On the 15th of June of 2015, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa deputized His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa to attend the ceremony of laying the foundation stone for East Sitra Project.

Signing an Agreement to Buy Deerat Al Oyoon Units

The Ministry of Housing signed a deal with Diyar Al Muharraq Company to buy fully prepared units that match the standards of the ministry

Khalifa Town

In implementation of the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of the country, may God bless and preserve him, the Ministry of Housing has transformed the areas around the villages of Askar, Joe and Aldor in the southern governorate.

Her Royal Highness the Wife of His Majesty the King, and President of the Supreme Council for Women Princess Sabeeka hint Ibrahim Al Khalifa patronized the inauguration of the first model of Masaken Project in Lowzi

The Inauguration of Khalifa Town

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa inaugurated Khalifa Town on December 13th of 2017 after he visited the Southern Governorate, and named the project Khalifa Town in honor of His Royal Highness the Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa.
